Expert Advice from Stan CollabFest
A couple weeks ago, I attended Stan CollabFest—a day of expert-led workshops and networking for creators.
I attended sessions on everything from email marketing to the creator-to-founder pipeline, here are my biggest takeaways:
Hire Slow, Fire Fast

Jason Lee, the founder of Jubilee (9.8M subscribers), said people hire too quick and fire too slowly.
Here’s how he hires:
Work with 2-3 people (paid).
See who’s the strongest option.
Pick them.
He said Jubilee also lives by the principle, “Being clear is kind.”
Be upfront about what success looks like, with clear success metrics in mind. Then let the talent know when they are and aren’t meeting those expectations.
Email Marketing is Key

Email marketing expert Hillary Krueger shared her tactics for insane conversion rates—yes, that image says 17% conversion.
To build your email list, create a freebie of some kind. Here are some of her favorites:

*Quiz is one of her favorites. Think things like “What debt payoff method should you use?” Or “Which workout plan makes most sense for you?” or “Which home decor style aligns best with you?”
What should you say in an email?
Hillary says most creators already have a perfect email laid out for them in their videos.
Hook: Email subject line
Story: Sometimes you need to create this on the spot, but sometimes it’s in your video already.
Teaching: Whatever you put in your caption
CTA: Also often found in your caption
Think of Your Products as a Suite
Priscilla Presley, Co-founder and CEO of Forward Female, has taught some of the world’s most successful female entrepreneurs how to scale their business to new heights.
To have a successful revenue-generating brand, Priscilla said you need to have these three pillars:
Connection → Build a brand people care about
Monetization → Create a simple yet effective offer funnel with irresistible offers that help your audience establish an identity they will pay for
Optimization → A system that helps you reach new heights
Let’s talk about that identity piece.
→ What is your target audience buying into? What identity do they want to have?
For example, “Buy this workout plan” becomes “Become the active, healthy mom you’ve always wanted to be.”
Then create your ecosystem or suite.

Each tier is an offer with different pricing that helps your customers further identify with that dream identity.
Sometimes You Need to Scrap It (And Sometimes You Just Need to Push Through)
In a workshop titled How to Create a Winning Product Your Audience Will Love, the host asked the panelists a question about a product that didn’t go as planned.

Zee Slingsby said she once launched a membership that just 1 person signed up for. Instead of canceling it, she gave that 1 person the best experience she could. Now, that membership is her best seller.
Kamaria Davis shared that she launched a membership sharing Reels templates. Less than 1 month in, she realized that while it was selling like crazy, it wasn’t aligned to her. She learned that there has to be a balance between creating what your audience wants and what excites you.
Sarah Perl had a similar experience. She launched a live coaching program on “princess treatment.” But once it was happening, she realized live programs weren’t for her. She turned it into a course
The lesson: Things can take time to take off, but know when to pivot.
