Build a Winning Team
What to look for, where to look, and more
Hey.
You can do it all—just not all at once.
Which is why you need a team.

How to Build a Winning Team
Building a team and finding the right talent can be a lot. It’s tough to find the perfect fit, onboarding and training is time-consuming, and it’s tough when things don’t work out.
But scaling a creator business alone isn’t the answer.
Below, we’ve broken down some tips for hiring the right talent, based on our conversations with top creators who’ve done it.
What to Look For
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who have the hard skills you need to accelerate your growth. The soft skills is where you want to dial in your search.
For example, MrBeast looks for people who are coachable and see the value in what he cares about.
He’d prefer to hire someone who’s a hard worker and obsessed with growing rather than hire someone with traditional experience.
A few other soft skills to look for:
Attention to detail
Resourcefulness
Self-management/initiative
Adaptability
And how to measure these in an interview:
Scenario-based questions
Let’s say you’re given XYZ project. (something that might be new to them or slightly outside their wheelhouse) Walk me through how you’d approach it.
Behavioral questions
What methods do you use to monitor the quality of your work?
Tell me about a time where you had a problem at work and had to find a creative solution to figure it out.
Where to Find Talent
Once you know what you’re looking for, it’s time to advertise to right audience. Here are a few places to look:
Pangea → Platform for fractional talent. Mostly $35/hour+, not beginner talent.
Upwork → Freelance talent of all skill levels and rates.
MeetYourVA → Virtual assistant company.
LinkedIn → Consider making a simple post advertising the role rather than a listing on the Jobs tab.
And a couple you might not have considered:
Kristoph Oedman (former President and Cofounder of ProGuides, a gaming coaching platform) hires within gaming communities. They know the customer well and are committed to the broader community.
I’ve hired through Instagram—it was a cold DM, but I’d consider posting about a role on my Stories.
When to Hire
At what point do you outsource? There isn’t one perfect answer.
The way I like to think about it is in term of time, energy, and the rate you value those resources at:
Time
There is only so much time in the day.
Are you running out of time and never finishing your to-do lists?
Time to hire.
Energy
Creating content requires a lot of mental energy.
How any hours of clear mental energy can you get before you’re on E? (this is different for everyone)
How long does it take to execute a piece of content from start to finish?
How many hours of mental energy do you have after that is done? What tasks still need to be done? Outsource those.
Rate
If you had to price an hour of your time, what would the rate be?
For each hour you spend on a task that isn’t revenue-generating or moving the needle, you’re “spending” that rate.
Can you outsource one of these tasks to someone for lower than what you value your time at? If so, you’re saving money.
The Future of TikTok
Just last week, President Trump shared that he will “probably” extend the executive order preventing the divest-or-ban law from taking effect.
Negotiations are still happening, but interested parties still don’t have enough information to confirm a deal. According to TubeFilter, there’s also confusion around who’s in charge of brokering the deal.
Currently, the executive order pushes the ban date back to April 5th—less than a month away. It’s unclear what will happen with the app as of now, but we’ll keep you posted.
