How to Grow to 5M+ Followers

This week in the Discord Community, we interviewed Humphrey Yang— a personal finance creator with over 5.6M followers across platforms.

Here are a few of the major takeaways:

  • Have an audience-first mentality. Always focus on giving them good advice or good content, without asking for much in return.

  • Figure out what your “wheelhouse” content is—content you know your audience will resonate with.

  • Balance experimental content vs. wheelhouse content so you’re always innovating and your content doesn’t die out.

Creators Launch Lunchables Competitor (And Get Slammed for It)

On a mission to “never have a boring lunch again,” creators MrBeast, Logan Paul, and KSI have launched Lunchly - a Lunchables competitors.

And unfortunately, they’ve been getting a lot of flack for it.

While the creators claim that Lunchly is a healthier alternative, fans aren’t buying it. They’ve made claims regarding:

  • It’s processed crap that isn’t healthy for kids.

  • It’s deceptive marketing to call it healthy.

  • This product being a money grab and not something the creators actually care about.

What’s interesting is how the creators are responding to it.

MrBeast has taken the more corporate approach, with responses attempting to state facts and “clear the air” on people’s gripes.

Logan, on the other hand, has taken the “clap back” approach—getting quite upset with folks over on X.

As for KSI? He hasn’t said much of anything.

It’s hard to tell what the future holds for Lunchly and whether they’'ll ever top Lunchables, but we’re here for the ride. 🍕

TikTok Ban Update

The deadline to sell or ban TikTok is still set to take effect January 19, 2025.

This week, a panel of judges will hear TikTok’s case against the federal government’s threat to ban the platform. They’ll also hear several other lawsuits, including one brought forth by TikTok and another by TikTok creators.

TikTok is still holding onto two main arguments:

  • Forcing the ban or sale of TikTok is a violation of Americans’ First Amendment rights.

  • The 270-day timeline placed on TikTok to sell or ban the platform is “not possible technologically, commercially, or legally.”

Here’s when we can expect some more answers:

  • We’re expected to have a ruling on the legality of the ban by December 6th.

  • Regardless of the ruling, it’s expected that the opposing side will appeal the case to the Supreme Court.

  • The case will then head to the Supreme Court, who will have the final say on whether the ban can take effect in January.
