Nikocado Avocado’s Social Experiment Revealed

You might’ve seen content from this guy before. ⤵️ He’s known for his mukbang content, which he’s posted for over two years.

Turns out, it was all a social experiment.

Over the weekend, Nikocado—whose real name is Nicholas Perry—released a video titled Two Steps Ahead where he revealed that it was all fake. The content he’s posted for the last two years was all pre-recorded.

While his content showed him living in a larger body, he was shedding over 250 lbs of weight behind the scenes.

“While everybody pointed and laughed at me for over-consuming food, I was in total control the entire time,” he wrote. “In reality, people are completed absorbed with Internet personalities and obsessively watch their content. That is where a deeper level of over-consumption lies.”

His goal? To remind people not to take the internet so seriously. To him, the world of social media isn’t as black and white as it appears.

It just goes to show—what you see online isn’t always the reality.

IG Adds New DM Features

Instagram has been on a roll lately. They just rolled out yet another new feature—DM customization options.

You can now turn specific elements from your photos into stickers, then send the stickers via DM… 🤠

They’re also adding birthday indicators to users’ Notes bubble. If you open DMs and it’s someone’s birthday, you’ll see a small cake icon next to their Notes bubble.

What Happened to the TikTok Ban?

Despite an initial frenzy, TikTok still hasn’t been banned. And it’s still unclear what the timeline for a potential ban is.

That said, new Pew research shows that fewer Americans support a TikTok ban. Here’s how the data has shifted:

  • March 2023: 50% in support of a ban

  • Fall 2023: 38% in support of a ban

  • Summer 2024: 32% in support of a ban

Will this change anything? Eh, hard to say.

The decision lies in the government’s hands at this point. The upcoming election might impact the decision, but it’s not totally clear if/how it will.

We’ll keep you posted on what we hear.
