Earn $4k/mo in Affiliate Revenue with Just 5k Subscribers
How one creator did it
Hey.
We officially hosted the first guest in our private Discord community for creators.
We brought in Shervin from Shervin Shares — a creator who made $4k/mo with just 5,000 subscribers. 🤯 Now, he’s a full-time creator with a unique approach to monetization.
In this week’s newsletter, we’re sharing a few of the takeaways from our conversation with him.
In today’s newsletter:
Shervin’s affiliate marketing strategy
How to earn revenue while also creating the content you want to
A few updates on the creator economy
Shervin’s Strategy for $4k/mo with 5k Subscribers
Shervin, known as Shervin Shares on social media, quit his job 2.5 years ago to focus entirely on growing his YouTube Channel.
At the time, he had 5,000 subscribers but was making $2k to $4k per month.

What made up the bulk of Shervin’s revenue? Affiliate marketing. In fact, it made up around 80% of his revenue at the time, with the rest being from AdSense.
Shervin would review products, like Amazon bookshelves, then paste the affiliate link in the description box. By leveraging search traffic, he was able to create high-converting content that earned him a substantial amount in affiliate revenue.
Now, Shervin is a rapidly-growing creator with 173k subscribers. While affiliate marketing is still a major piece of his revenue, he’s expanded to brand partnerships and other sponsorships. Affiliate marketing now makes up around 40-50% of his revenue.
Creating Content That Converts for Affiliate Revenue
Shervin believes in balancing two types of content:
Product-based videos (which drive revenue)
Lifestyle/personal narrative videos (which grow his brand)
It’s easier to earn affiliate revenue on product-based videos—simply because you’re promoting a product and sharing the affiliate link for it. But lifestyle videos allow him to connect with his audience on another level.
Shervin said he could probably grow faster if he focused solely on lifestyle content. But the product-based content earns the revenue he needs to fund the growth of his channel. 💡

TikTok Now Paying to Use Creator Search Insights
TikTok recently released an update to Creator Search Insights—the tool that shows you what people in your audience are searching for on TikTok.
Previously, its main purpose was to provide creators with search data. Creators could then create content that might rank higher in TikTok’s search.
Now, TikTok is incentivizing people to use Creator Search Insights by offering rewards for doing so. (Head to your System Notifications to sign up for it.)
To earn just $10, you’ll need to submit at least 2 eligible videos based on Creator Search Insights. Then, each video will need to hit at least 1,000 videos (with 100 of those coming from search) and 100 likes…🤔
Comparing this against the standard TikTok Creator Rewards, this actually…isn’t bad? Each program has a pretty decent list of qualification criteria, but the earnings might not be as bad?
Creator Rewards | Creator Search Insights Earnings | |
---|---|---|
RPM/Earnings per 1,000 views | $1.24 (my current RPM) | $5 ($10 for 2 videos at 1,000 views) |
