Uplevel Your Content Business

10 actionable insights you can implement today

Hey.

We’re still riding the emotional high of Creator Bootcamp—what an insane two weeks.

Hundreds of people attended, got answers to burning content questions from experts, and left with inspiration and motivation needed to take their creator businesses to the next level.

In this week’s newsletter, we’ve compiled some of the more actionable insights in one place. Take it as your playbook for 2025.

In today’s newsletter:

  • CapCut warning

2025 Creator Business Growth Playbook

We broke this out into sections. To watch the full conversations these learnings are from, join the Discord (replay links inside).

Content

  • Pick one mission and stick to it. You don’t need to put max effort into everything to grow as a creator.

  • Engage with your community regularly. Community is your lifeblood as a creator. Respond in the comments. Make sure they feel heard.

  • Your personal brand is everything. Do these two exercises Qetsiyah Jacobson recommends to start creating your personal brand:

    • List out everything about yourself (location, jobs, hobbies, etc). Find interest in that. Don’t try to be someone else.

    • List out aspiring points vs. relatable points. You need to be equal parts aspiring and relatable. What makes you relatable to the average person? What makes you stand out from the average person?

Brand Deals

Pitching:

  • Use Justin Moore’s ROPE Method:

    • R - Relevant: Make your pitch relevant to a campaign that the brand is currently running or has run in the past.

    • O - Organic: Showcase organic work that demonstrates how your audience has an affinity for that brand.

    • P - Proof: Show how you’ve helped other brands achieves these results.

    • E - Easy to Execute: Pitch the brand exactly what content you’re going to provide them and what rights that brand will have to that content.

  • Tie your packages to the brand goals, not quantity.

    • DON’T: Here’s a package with 1 YouTube video + 5 TikToks.

    • DO: Here’s a package built around awareness, here’s one built for conversions, and here’s one built for both (highest priced package).

  • Pitch to brands with the right profile.

    • For early stage creators, Zack Hornavar says the best opportunities come from companies that A) make consumer-packaged goods and B) Generate $1m-$10m in annual revenue or have 10-100 employees.

Working with Brands:

  • Always take the second deal. If you’ve worked with a brand and they come back for another deal, take it. It shows other brands you did a good job and the brand liked working with you.

Growth and Scaling

  • To work with an agent, you need to be consistently creating content. If you’re not doing this already, develop a system that helps you stay consistent.

  • Consider getting a CPA to assist with your taxes once you’ve made $200k. Before that, it might be simple enough to manage on your own.

  • Have a strong “why” behind your content so you don’t fall into the trap of putting metrics on a pedestal.

TikTok and Capcut Warning

Amidst the pending TikTok ban, don’t forget—CapCut is owned by ByteDance too.

If you have a CapCut Pro subscription on a monthly or annual subscription, check when your plan expires.

If you have videos you’re actively editing with pro features and your CapCut subscription expires, you will have to remove all pro features to export. This includes brand deal videos, of course.

(A creator friend’s subscription expired mid-month and she wasn’t able to renew due to the limitations of the pending ban. It caused quite the disruption, so just a heads up!)

Note: CapCut has been working on restoring this, but it’s been in/out. It may work, but just have a backup plan and save any important content elsewhere.
